You're ready for summer - is your lawn?

As the weather warms up, it's the perfect time in the Mascouche-Terrebonne area to give your lawn the care it needs to thrive throughout the season. A strong start in early spring will set the foundation for a healthy, green lawn all summer long. Here’s our step-by-step spring lawn care guide to help you get the best results.

Nourish Your Soil with Chicken Manure

At the end of April or mid October, you can use chicken manure to replace a fertilizer treatment. This is a great natural option that helps nourish your soil with organic matter. Chicken manure improves soil structure and provides essential nutrients, making it an excellent choice for both early spring and late fall applications. If you’re looking for a more natural approach, this is a perfect way to start the season.

Balance Your Soil with Lime

Quali Grow’s Pelletized Dolomitic Lime plays an important role in maintaining the health of your lawn. Its main purpose is to raise the pH level of your soil, allowing your grass to better absorb nutrients from fertilizer. We recommend applying lime once a year, either in April or mid-October. For best results, follow your lime application with fertilizer to maximize its effectiveness.

Fertilizing for Strong Growth

For optimal lawn growth, apply 3 lbs of Synagri 24-7-15 fertilizer per 1,000 square feet.

Timing and watering are key:

  • Apply fertilizer just before rainfall, or

  • Water your lawn with approximately one inch of water after application

Repeat this application every 3 weeks up until June 24th, which marks the end of the spring treatment period. Resume applications in the fall, once temperatures consistently remain below 25°C.

Please note: This schedule is specifically designed for our fertilizer and may not necessarily apply to other brands.

Seeding the Right Way

If your lawn needs repair or thickening, proper seeding is essential. We recommend waiting until after Mother’s Day before starting.

Here’s how to prepare and seed your lawn effectively:

To finish, lightly compact the area using an empty roller or a wood plank. This helps ensure proper seed-to-soil contact for better germination.

A healthy lawn doesn’t happen by accident, it starts with the right care at the right time. By following these steps, you’ll create the ideal conditions for strong, vibrant grass that lasts all season.
